Frequently Asked Questions

Starting Coaching can feel exciting, overwhelming and vulnerable all at the same time, trust me I get it. Especially if fitness has felt confusing, intimidating or inconsistent for you in the past.

These are some of the most common questions women ask before starting Coaching with me. Some are practical, some are emotional and some are probably questions you’ve been carrying around in your head for years.

Hopefully this helps things feel a little clearer.

Starting Coaching

  • Absolutely not. Most women I work with do not arrive feeling confident, fit or “ready”. Coaching is designed around your current starting point, not where you think you should already be.

  • This is incredibly common. Many women start Coaching feeling intimidated by gyms, weights or not knowing what exercises to do. Part of Coaching is helping you gradually build confidence and familiarity over time so the gym starts to feel far less overwhelming.

  • Most women who come to me have. One of the biggest things we work on is building consistency in a way that actually fits around real life rather than relying on motivation or all-or-nothing routines.

  • Yes — absolutely. A huge part of my work is helping women who are completely new to strength training or who feel unsure how to structure workouts safely and effectively.

  • Not even slightly. You do not need to earn support by already being “good” at fitness. Coaching exists to support you where you are now, not where you think you should be.

  • That is completely fine and incredibly normal. Many women start feeling unsure around dumbbells, gym equipment or strength training generally. Coaching is designed to help you gradually build confidence and understanding over time.

Personal Training & Strength Coaching

  • Coaching is built around you, your goals and your lifestyle. Depending on the package, this may include Personal Training sessions in Cheltenham, structured workouts, app-based programming, accountability and ongoing support outside the gym.

  • If you are local, I offer in-person Personal Training sessions in Cheltenham at GL52 Fitness.

  • Yes. I work with women both in Cheltenham and online through structured programming, accountability and regular support.

  • I love this question. This depends entirely on your goals, experience and lifestyle. For some women, one session a week is the perfect place to begin. Coaching is about building something sustainable, not perfect.

  • Not always. Some women train at home, some in gyms and some do a mixture of both. Programmes can be adapted around the equipment and environment available to you. I encourage everyone who trains with me, either in Cheltenham or online, to build up to training in a gym at some point.

  • Online Coaching starts from £149 per month, with in-person Personal Training packages in Cheltenham starting from £249 per month.

Strength Training, Weight Loss & Women’s Health

  • Strength training is designed to improve muscle strength and function, and over time will build it. Most women instead notice improvements in strength, confidence, posture, muscle tone and overall body composition. Building significant muscle mass takes years of dedicated training and nutrition.

  • Yes, but I approach weight loss from a calm, realistic and sustainable perspective. Strength training can support fat loss while also helping shift the focus towards strength, confidence and long-term health.

  • Absolutely. Strength training supports muscle mass, bone density, joint health and physical resilience as we age. It is one of the most valuable things women can do for long-term health.

  • Absolutely! Strength training can be incredibly supportive during perimenopause and menopause. Coaching is always adapted around your current energy levels, experience and lifestyle.

  • Not at all. Many women start Coaching simply wanting to feel stronger, healthier, more capable or more consistent with exercise.

  • Very much so, both personally and professionally. Almost every woman I work with has complicated feelings around her body, exercise or confidence in some way. Coaching is not about punishment or perfection but building strength, self-respect and trust in yourself over time.

Practical Questions

  • The best place to start is by downloading the Let’s Lift Guide or submitting an enquiry form. From there, we can have a conversation about what support would feel most helpful for you.

  • Yes. I always like to understand your goals, previous experiences with fitness and what you are hoping Coaching will help you achieve before we begin.

  • I encourage you to approach this with a longer term mindset than focusing on quick fixes. Most women work with me for a minimum of three months because building confidence, consistency and strength takes time but I do not contract you into a commitment or take upfront payment. The focus is always on sustainable long-term progress rather than quick fixes.

  • Many women I work with come to Coaching with previous injuries, aches or health concerns. Programmes are always adapted around you and your body. And if I’m not the right trainer for you or I don’t have the expertise I feel you need, I will discuss this with you through the consultation process.

  • Most of the women I work with are balancing careers, children, relationships and busy lives. Coaching is designed to fit around real life rather than expecting your whole life to revolve around fitness.

  • Honestly? Most women don’t. There is no perfect starting point and you do not need to feel fully confident before asking for support. You just need to be willing to begin.

Not sure where to start?

Some women prefer to begin by downloading the Let’s Lift Guide, whilst others are ready to enquire about Coaching straight away. It’s totally up to you, I’m ready when you are.
